About Browning Designs
I was born and raised in the South Bay of Los Angeles. I began working in the construction industry in
the summers, while attending high school at Redondo Union High. I started working as a contractor's
assistant to Richard Golden, of Golden Builders (Lic. #439425). My interest in construction landed me
in the Architecture program at El Camino Community College.
While attending El Camino, I began working at King Harbor Yacht Club in the Redondo Beach Marina. I
designed and built small garages, guardrails and docks. I met a yacht club member named Steve Sharp.
We shared a common interest in architecture. He invited me to visit him at his office, P. Patrick Murray,
Inc. in Century City. I loved it. I worked there for the next 8 years, starting as a draftsman, then rising
to project manager under the watchful tutelage of VP Nelson Algaze, AIA. My responsibilities included
meeting with clients, assessing needs, designing space- office TI, medical, dental, industrial, coordinating
construction documents, acquiring permits and overseeing construction. During this time, I stayed in
school and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Music from Cal State Dominguez Hills.
P.Patrick Murray retired in 1998. I spent the next few years working at S+K+A, Interiors and
Architecture in Long Beach and Irvine, of which Nelson Algaze,AIA was a partner. While working on
the commercial end of architecture, I did have occasion to design a few houses, mostly additions and
remodels, and I really enjoyed that work. In 2001, I decided to try things on my own, and, luckily, the
timing has been great. I was able to receive some valuable mentoring from Ben Burkhalter, AIA, whom I
met while working on some offices for Playboy Entertainment. I've also gained experience working with
Frank Politeo, AIA on a major remodel for the Boys & Girls Club of Wilmington.
In my free time, I am active in the community coaching sports- Baseball- SRLL &TABB, Soccer-AYSO
and Basketball- RBYB. I also surf, play music and enjoy spending time with family & friends.
I enjoy working together with my clients as a team. Thanks to strong references, I have thankfully been
able to continue designing interesting projects. I am very proud of my reputation and work hard to
maintain it.
